Escaping the Distractions of Home: Planning a Writer's Retreat

A few years ago I was lucky enough to spend two weeks of uninterrupted writing time at a Writers-in-Residence program on the other side of the state, my most productive two weeks ever. This particular program, though not advertised, is highly sought after by writers who know about it -- including this writer, who has just sent another application for consideration and gotten a quick acceptance! Hooray!

Since I'll be teaching again this fall, I'm planning a series of writerly get-aways to keep myself as fully immersed in the novel I'm working on as possible.

Where do you go to get away from the distractions of home?

Home has always been the place I go to get away from the distractions of the world.

Home is wonderful, Doug. But it can be busy. Sometimes it's good to get away and just be still when I'm writing.

Oh MY!!!! You will be literally within walking distance. How about lunch?

YES!!! Would love to have lunch. I was going to ask you if you live nearby.

What if we meet up about mid-way through my stay? You'll be my reward :) I'll be there Oct. 6-18.

Sometime between Oct. 10-15?
